There once was a speedy Hare who bragged about how fast he could run.

有一只速度快的野兔，它炫耀自己跑的有多么快！

Tired of hearing him boast, the Tortoise challenged him to a race.

厭倦了聽兔子自夸，烏龜向它挑戰(zhàn)賽跑。

All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.

森林里所有的動(dòng)物都聚到一起觀看。

The Hare ran down the road for a while and then and paused to rest.

兔子沿著路跑了一會(huì)，就停下來(lái)休息。

He looked back at the tortoise and cried out,

它回頭看著烏龜，喊道：

"How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?"

就你這個(gè)走路的慢速度，還期望能贏得比賽嗎？

The Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep,

兔子伸了個(gè)懶腰，開始沿著路邊睡覺。

thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."

它心想，還有好多時(shí)間，放松一下吧。

The Tortoise walked and walked;

烏龜繼續(xù)走啊走。

never ever stopping until he came to the finish line.

不停地走，直到它到達(dá)了終點(diǎn)線。

The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise, that they woke up Hare.

正在觀看比賽的動(dòng)物們?yōu)闉觚敶舐暁g呼，也叫醒了兔子。

The Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again,

兔子伸了伸懶腰，打了個(gè)呵欠，然后開始繼續(xù)跑。

but it was too late.

但是太晚了。

Tortoise was already over the line.

烏龜已經(jīng)越過了終點(diǎn)線。
